Dr. Tinghe Wu’s research interests
RNA molecules are the most functionally diverse biopolymers on Earth, but we know little about their structures and behaviors. In the Lab of Structure Biochemistry, we explore the structural complexity of RNA molecules and the proteins that bind them, focusing on three major areas:
A.Functional mechanism of viral RNA recognition by innate immune receptor, RIG-I.
B.The molecular mechanism of RNA helicase proteins and RNA-triggered mechanical devices, such as Mov10L1, piRNA binding protein and DDX21, which coordinates transcription and ribosomal RNA processing.
C.Structure determination of methyltransferase complex.

Dr. Wu’s previous studies as a postdoctoral research fellow in Prof. Jody Puglisi’s lab have carried him into the fields of RNA helicase, innate immunity. Dr. Wu will shift his focuses into the field of RNA transcription in development. His research interests will be relevant to all of the many tasks of RNA in the cell as well.
