Cancer research is essential of human health and it remains one of the most important research subjects in biomedicine. Cancer related death and economic burden are great challenges both in China and Germany.
The German cancer research center (DKFZ) is the world leading center on cancer research; its pioneer research on human papilloma virus (HPV) results in successful global vaccination programs to prevent HPV-related cancers, such as cervical cancer. The DKFZ is also leader and coordinator of cancer research in Germany.
Many innovative researches have been published by Chinese scientists in the field of cancer biology. Meanwhile, China's biotechnology innovation has become world-leading especially in cell therapy, stem cell transformation, single cell sequencing and genome editing with CRISPR/Cas9, etc.
This Sino-German symposium: Frontiers in translational oncology, is supported by the Sino-German Center for Research Promotion (SGC). We are confident that this symposium will offer a good opportunity to bring together distinguished scientists with complementary knowledge and expertise from two counties and exchange their ideas and technologies, hence promoting the mutual collaboration and joint improvement in relevant research areas between China and Germany to a new height.
